IWF Awareness Day 2009
We held our third Awareness Day on 14 October 2009.
To help raise awareness of the IWF national reporting service,
40 major online brands, 6 government departments, local councils, law enforcement and charities joined forces to publicise the IWF 'Hotline' on 14 October. The IWF marked its Awareness Day with the release of new research showing that more people than ever are using our Hotline to report potentially illegal content on the internet and the UK is leading the way in removing child sexual abuse images.
To promote parliamentary recognition of IWF’s work and Awareness Day, an
Early Day Motion (EDM) was kindly tabled by the Rt. Hon. Alun Michael MP inviting parliamentary support for the IWF’s work and stakeholders. The EDM has received 93 signatures, confirming cross-party support for the IWF.
We are grateful to all the organisations and individuals who supported our Awareness Day. Their efforts led to a big increase in IWF website visitors.
